Integrity Girls Gymnastics Booster Club
2009-2010
Overview
The Girls Booster Club is a volunteer, non-profit organization run by the parents. The volunteers provide an opportunity for fundraising, plan social events for the team, and collect/disburse monies for competition costs. We are officially known as BRAG - Girls (Boosters of Rythmic and Artistic Gymnastics).
USA Gymnastics:
The sport of gymnastics is governed by the USA Gymnastics Association (USAG). The USAG is the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of gymnastics as designated under the Amateur Sports Act and is so recognized by the international Federation of Gymnastics (FIG). The FIG is the international governing body as recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Brief Description of the Levels:
Compulsory Levels: “Compulsory” means “required”. The compulsory levels require that the gymnasts all do the same skills and routines. The rational for these required routines is so that the gymnasts are forced to devote time and repetition to the mastery of essential basic skills that are required for long term success in the sport. All girls at each level will compete the exact same routines. Level 3 – 6 are compulsory levels. These are USAG levels. Level 1 & level 2 are pre-competition levels and are not part of the boosters.
Optional Levels: At the optional levels, the gymnasts have unique routines following exacting general guidelines directed by the USAG. Levels 8 – 10 are optional levels. Level 7 is a transition level with both compulsory and optional components to the routines.
Competition:
All gymnasts will compete in approximately 6-10 meets during the year. The girls at the compulsory levels complete mostly within the state of Ohio, however, some meets may be located in other states (usually neighboring states), and one travel meet that is optional, i.e. Florida. All girls are expected to enter and compete in all of these competitions. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide transportation to and from all competitions for their child.
Integrity Gymnastics Girls Team -Booster Club
All parents of Integrity Gymnastics team members are required to join this organization. The booster organization is a non-profit volunteer group which supports the efforts of the gymnasts, coaches and the team program through paying coaches expenses, purchasing team specific equipment for the gym, paying meet entry fees, USAG fees and other expenses. There are several fundraising opportunities available. Our largest fundraiser takes place every year in February, when Integrity Girls Team hosts a competitive meet. In 2009, we attracted over 600 gymnasts. This event is a huge fundraiser for our booster organization. Each family is required to help with this event. Plan on working the several shifts over weekend, February 5-7, 2010.
Booster Meetings:
Booster meetings will be held monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm at the gym. There are 2-3 mandatory meetings per year.
Annual Booster Club Fee: $65.00
This fee covers coaches and gymnast gifts, team social events, end of year banquet and awards, administrative and banking fees. The booster fee is due by September 30, 2009. Checks are made payable to BRAG- Girls, and please note “booster fee” and the gymnast name and level in the memo.
Individual Booster Account:
Each gymnast will have an account established in which funds will be deposited and used to pay for your gymnasts’ individual competition expenses. Your individual account MUST maintain a CREDIT balance. The booster club will pay for all meet entry fees for each team gymnast in good standing. Listed below is the Competition Meet Fee Schedule for levels 4-10:
September 15th $350.00 ($200- L3)
October 15th $350.00 ($200- L3)
November 15th $350.00 ($100- L3)
All checks should be made payable to BRAG – Girls. All payments should include the following information in the memo line of your check for individual booster payments: Your daughter’s name/Level/Purpose of payment. Example: Jane Smith, L8, Meet Fees
Payments shall be placed in the white “Girls’ Gymnastics Team Mailbox” on the 2nd level of the gym.
Account statements will be provided monthly during competition season (October – April) via email only. (No hard copies)
PLEASE NOTE, NO BILLING STATEMENTS WILL BE ISSUED FOR THE ABOVE SCHEDULED PAYMENTS AND DUE DATES. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE THESE PAYMENTS BY THE SPECIFIED DUE DATES.
REMEMBER….IF YOUR ACCOUNT DOES NOT HAVE A CREDIT BALANCE, YOUR GYMNAST WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE COMPETITION ROSTER AND WILL NOT BE ENTERED INTO MEETS UNTIL YOUR ACCOUNT IS IN GOOD STANDING.
If you are unable to meet the meet fee payment schedule requirements, payment plans can be discussed with the Treasurer, who has been given discretionary authority by the executive board. The decision to seek a payment plan option is the responsibility of the parent or guardian of the gymnast(s). The decision by BRAG – Girls to accept such a payment plan is made at the discretion of the Treasurer and in the event that the Treasurer decides not to accept a payment plan, that decision is final.
Uniforms & Apparel:
All team members are required to purchase their competition apparel. Leotards and warm-ups are ordered on opposite years to help ease the cost. Estimated cost for team apparel is approximately $300 in total.
Competition Meet Fees and Travel:
Parents are required to pay for entry fees for competitions (typically $60-$100 per meet), all travel expenses, annual USAG registration and all coaching expenses incurred at the competitions in which their gymnast(s) compete.
Meet Fees:
Once meet entry fees have been paid, no refunds will be issued unless the meet fee is refunded to our booster organization by the host gym. Entry fees are typically required to be submitted to the host gym more than two months prior to the competition. If for any reason a gymnast SHOULD NOT be entered into a meet due to parent’s desire, approval must be granted by the team director. This request must be received and approved prior to the submission of the meet entry fee for that specific meet or that meet entry fee will be forfeited. Please note, that your gymnast will still be required to pay coaches expenses for the meet missed unless their absence is due to injury – see below.
Gymnasts are expected to compete at all meets. Any gymnast who has been entered into a meet who becomes injured will not be required to pay coaches expense for that meet IF a doctor’s excuse is provided. The meet entry fee will be refunded ONLY if a refund is received from the host gym for that particular meet.
Individual Account Refunds:
In the event you decide to leave the Girls Integrity Team, you must request a refund of the balance in your account within 45 days of leaving. A full refund of the balance of your account will be issued once all necessary meet and coaches expenses have been processed, less any funding credited to the account through non-profit fundraising.
Integrity Invitational
Each February, the Integrity Girls Team will host a competitive meet. Your participation is MANDATORY during any meets hosted by the Girls’ team booster organization. It takes many volunteers to run a successful meet, thus, the Booster Club depends on the collective cooperation and efforts of its members to achieve the goal of helping our girls’ gymnastic team. This meet is a huge fundraiser! In 2009 & 2010, the Booster club was able to provide funding to gymnasts that qualified for regional and national competition AND each family received over $300.00!
Any member who joins the Booster organization AFTER the Integrity Invitational meet has taken place will NOT be permitted to receive meet proceeds.
Regional Gymnast Support:
The Booster organization will fund $100 to each gymnast that qualifies and competes at Regionals. This is in addition to the lollipop sales proceeds that will be divided among the regional qualifiers.
National Gymnast Support:
The Booster organization will fund $150 to each gymnast that qualifies and competes at Nationals.
Fundraising Opportunities:
We currently have one ongoing fundraiser- Scrip. Please see the box on the first level of the gym, near the front desk for details.
